If we reference what is going on in the rest of the world, not only will fiber optics change the highs speed ISP Providers‘ market, but some claim it will also change the U.S. Not only will fiber optics redefine the home entertainment and communications business but our society will advance as a result. In a USA Today article a British research firm called Point Topic found that the number of new fiber optics broadband customers is growing faster than the number of new cable ISP customers worldwide by 1.7 million new users. Both cable and DSL are still the most common type of broadband service, however, fiber optics is swiftly closing the gap. The society as a whole is demanding faster speed and hopefully the US will keep up with countries like Korea and Japan that have 5 times the speed at a fraction of what we pay for high speed internet.
